COMO, ITALYComo, the capital of Como Province in northern Italy, is primarily a tourist centre. Como was established as a Roman colony and became an independent commune in the 11th century. It was frequently at war with Milan, and later was controlled by Spain and Austria. It was liberated by Garibaldi in 1859. In the Middle Ages and Renaissance, craftsmen, architects, and sculptors from Como were renowned throughout Italy. The city has a marble cathedral built between the 14th and 18th centuries, a 13th century city hall, and several Romanesque churches. |

Extraordinary IAPMC Executive Board Meeting, New York (April 29 - May 3, 2010)The 2010 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review International Planning Committee, comprised of NGO’s from the United States, Europe and Asia is organizing a day and a half long international conference on Nuclear Abolition, Peace and Disarmament on May 1, 2010, the eve of the NPT Review Conference at the United Nations. The conference will be held in the Riverside Church in New York City and will include between 800 and 1,000 participants.
