ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USACapital and largest city (metropolitan area 3,000,000 citizens) of Georgia was settled in 1837, it became a city in 1847. In Civil War Atlanta was captured and burned (1864) by Gen. Sherman; rebuilt it prospered and became the state capital in 1868. Today it is located in one of America’s fastest-growing urban areas, it is the largest commercial, industrial, and financial centre in the south-east U. S. as well as a transportation hub and a convention centre. The city is also a centre of international trade and commerce. Among its numerous educational institutions points of interest include the Atlanta Memorial Arts Centre and the grave of Martin Luther King. Atlanta was the site of the 1996 summer Olympic games. |

Extraordinary IAPMC Executive Board Meeting, New York (April 29 - May 3, 2010)The 2010 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review International Planning Committee, comprised of NGO’s from the United States, Europe and Asia is organizing a day and a half long international conference on Nuclear Abolition, Peace and Disarmament on May 1, 2010, the eve of the NPT Review Conference at the United Nations. The conference will be held in the Riverside Church in New York City and will include between 800 and 1,000 participants.
